They are known by many names including rigid boxes, set-up boxes, rolled edge boxes, candy boxes, or even greeting card boxes.
Unlike boxes made of corrugated board or folding cartons made that are also made of paper board, these boxes are pre-formed with rigid vertical walls creating a bottom “tray” and the option of a matching full or partial paper board lid, or in some cases with a plastic or acetate transparent lid so the contents can easily seen. This last version with the clear lid is extremely popular for greeting cards and votive candles.
What Makes Rigid Boxes Green?
In most cases they are made of paper board that is made of up to 100% recycled content. In addition, the boxes can be wrapped with virtually any material that is also green such as natural grass papers, recycled Kraft and other eco-friendly materials. “Any material that folds and cuts” is how our manufacturing partner describes their capabilities but when in doubt, provide a sample of your unique material and we’ll confirm whether or not it is going to work as a rigid box wrap.
What makes rigid boxes most green in my opinion is the fact they are strong and decorative making them ideal to keep, re-purpose or reuse. Unlike most packaging that is considered disposable, their extended useful life makes them ideal for branding and promotional purposes. Imagine your logo or message lasting well beyond its arrival to your customer’s home.
Custom Rigid Boxes – Low minimums
Most companies see the value of creating a unique look but usually believe their volume does not meet minimums or the cost is unaffordable. What we love about rigid boxes is our low 1,000 box minimum which makes them a viable option to most businesses.
Once you can select your box size and your lid style, (full or partial over lap), we provide you with the paper wrap sizes your design will require. You can provide your own paper or printed copy reducing your costs or you can provide artwork and we’ll handle the rest. Keep in mind it is not at all unusual for this style of box to be decorated inside as well with a color board or even an interior wrap.
In either case, with no tooling expense and no huge minimum, you can create an affordable package that is 100% your own design, and is almost sure to be appreciated and reused.
Contact Salazar Packaging if you have any questions about this or any of our other types of eco-friendly packaging options we offer. Folding cartons, corrugated boxes, corrugated die cut mailers, mailer envelopes and even paper tube packaging are all available custom printed and branded, at reasonable minimums and prices.
As always, we are glad to review your application with you to determine the best way to help you accomplish your packaging objectives.
