Custom printed paper tape has long been an excellent alternative to branded boxes for many start-up businesses looking for a lower cost custom packaging option. Previously, we have offered flexographic Custom-printed water-activated tape (CPWAT) as an eco-friendly 1 or 2 color option to brand anything from RSCs to die cut mailers, or even paper envelopes. But just as equipment has evolved and improved over the years for printed boxes, the same is true of printed tape. Salazar Packaging is now including digitally printed paper tape as a product offered to promote your brand, logo or any other design you can dream of.
What are the design options for Digital Printed Tape?
As opposed to flexo-printed CPWAT, which only allow for 1 or 2 color designs, digital prints allow for printing of virtually any design printed edge to edge with no limit to the amount of colors used. Perhaps more importantly, there are no additional charges for any additional inks used, and there are no print plate fees, meaning you do not have to limit your design to try to save on cost. The only setup cost is a firm one-time art charge of $85.00, regardless of design, unless multiple copies are needed. There is also no sleeve requirement for digital printing, meaning continuous repeat patterns with no spaces or breaks between are possible at no added cost.
Digital printing is available on both kraft or white tape, at the same cost, although the vast majority of designs will print better on white with better pop, crispness and clarity, much like digitally printed boxes.
What are pricing and minimums for Digital Printed Tape?
Currently, we do have an 8 case minimum order quantity for digitally printed custom tape. There are 10 rolls per case, at 450’ per roll. As is true of all of our custom products, there are price breaks at higher volumes, starting at 12 cases and going up from there. Full pricing breakdowns are available at request by contacting us.
Lead times on first time orders are currently 2 weeks from final approved artwork.
Is digital printed tape eco-friendly and effective?
Custom printed paper tape is probably best utilized on a plain kraft or white RSC (4 flap folding) box because of the requirement for tape or other closure, unlike die-cut mailers, which can close without tape. You can solve two problems at once this way by ensuring that your logo or brand pops while also securely closing the box with tape that is stronger with a more durable hold than plastic alternatives. Our printed tape is water activated, with a corn starch-based adhesive. Printed paper tape is also a greener alternative than most plastic tapes, which would require you to remove prior to recycling the container/box. Our tape is made of paper that is biodegradable, repulpable and recyclable when adhered to a corrugated container, making it one of the more eco-friendly packaging closure options available, and a great way to communicate your company’s green-mindedness to your customers.
